Deer Park
The Deer Park neighborhood personifies downtown Fairfax: shady, level streets without sidewalks, rising into unexpected hills, and lined with small cottages. This is one of the few areas (along with some in Mill Valley, Tiburon, San Anselmo, and Larkspur) where you can walk to a charming downtown. 100+ years ago Fairfax was at the destination at the end of the rail line for warm summer days and nights, dining, dancing in outdoor pavilions, and good times. It is still relaxed.
