Tam Valley-Little City Farms
Little City Farms is in a broad valley west of CA Highway 1 (also known as Shoreline Highway) bordering the coastal crest of Mount Tamalpais and the Golden Gate Recreational Area. The North Fork of Coyote Creek rolls gently through the valley. Little City Farms has a diversity of home styles built from the early 1920’s to present day. Many houses are smaller cottages, yet to be improved. Lots are large and houses well separated.
In 1919, this neighborhood was marketed to prospective homeowners as Little City Farms. In 1910, a farm of 175,000 Eucalyptus trees was planted at the back of the valley to provide building lumber. The wood proved unsuitable as lumber, and the surviving trees are seen in many of the photos below.
In recent years, older homes have been rebuilt or upgraded. Most home sites are about a quarter of an acre, and the older trees and lack of sidewalks present a feeling of rural countryside.
