Gerstle Park
Victorian Homes in Downtown San Rafael
Gerstle Park, tucked between Kentfield and downtown San Rafael, rolls through level, tree-lined streets and up the hills to the west. This neighborhood provides a mixture of home styles, but is noted for a large number of surviving Victorian cottages and merchant mini-estates from the late 1800’s. Some of the original homes were built as summer residences for San Francisco families, including two adjoining estates for the Gerstle and Sloss families. Gerstle Park, a center for community activities, was the site of the Gerstle family home.
